teddy bear faces

teddy-bear-face-party ideaThis is face painting anyone can do, and this simple idea makes young kids feel ‘beary’ special.  Use a black face paint pen (or soft black eyeliner) to draw this simple teddy bear nose and mouth on guests as they arrive for your teddy bears’ picnic party.  They will then be ready to dance to teddy bear tunes, or to march in a teddy bear parade.  Don’t forget to snap a photo of each child, and send it as a thank-you to guests after the party.

princess sceptre

princess-sceptre-party-ideasThe guests at Tilly’s princess party all had a chance to hold this sceptre at their “coronation”, and posed with it for the “royal photographer”.  I made it by wrapping aluminum foil around a chopstick, then pushing the chopstick into a  christmas ornament.  If you can’t find a suitable ornament, you can glue glitter and fake jewels to a styrofoam ball (or any shape you like).

Making a prince/princess sceptre could also be an activity for your prince/princess party - supply some pieces of dowel, styrofoam balls or christmas ornaments, ribbons, paint, glue, glitter and stick on jewels, and let the guests create their royal masterpiece.

pirate hook

pirate-hook party ideasI really wasn’t sure if the kids would go for these homemade pirate hooks, but they played with them for ages!!  All you require is a red plastic cup, pop stick, silver cardboard and some tape.    Print the pirate hook template and follow the instructions.  You can make these ahead of time or have the kids make them during the party (just make the slits in the cups first).  You can even have them decorate the red hook holder.  To wear the hook, the child just needs to place their hand in the cup and hold onto the pop stick.

princess tiaras

princess-tiaras-party-ideasA princess party wouldn’t be complete without princess tiaras for the guests.  You can usually find these at your local variety store.  Either provide them to guests as they enter the party or after they have proven they are princesses (by playing princess party games such as the princess and the pea game or showing princess manners).  Either way, we hope the tiaras will turn them into little princesses in many ways!

princess tiara

princess-tiara-party-ideasThis is an easy way to make your guests feel special at a princess, fairy or mermaid party.  All you need is a roll of alfoil and some colourful plastic gems.

Here’s how to make this beautiful princess crown: Cut your alfoil into strips of approximately two inches wide.  Simply twist the strips to create and shape as desired (a little craft glue may help to put them together).  Glue on your jewels and you are done.

You can get the kids to make these at the party, have them ready for them to decorate with jewels, or simply have them ready to wear.  A bit of bling for nothing near the price!

secret agent costume

secret-agent-costume-party-ideasA secret agent party is an easy one to dress up for.  All you need is a trench coat (or similar jacket - any adult coat will look like a trench on a little one), some sunnies, a hat and a moustache.  You can get your guests to dress up at home, or you can grab some cheap sunnies and moustaches from a cheap shop.  Grab some water pistols to go with it and the kids will be even more excited!

rubber ducky party hats

Rubber Ducky Party HatsThese party hats create simple but cute costumes ensuring all your guests feel the part.  Take a yellow party hat and turn it into a rubber ducky by gluing on an orange cardboard beak, eyes and some fluffy feathers.  Too cute!

If you can’t find a plain yellow hat, you can use our party hat template to make your own from yellow card.
