mermaid goodie bags
You can buy paper goodie bags in lots of colours from most craft stores. For my daughter’s mermaid party I chose this blue to complement the theme of pink and blue.
To make the bag a little more interesting I cut a starfish and made a window in the front of the bag. There’s a few useful tips in doing this:
- Keep the bags flat (folded) for the cutting
- Find a piece of thick card that you can insert into the flattened bag to use as a cutting board
- Print a template of the starfish and using a glue stick, glue the template in place on the bag (be sure to only glue inside the starfish as this will be the piece you end up throwing away) - this saves drawing lines on your bag
- Using a stanley knife trace over the lines of your template to cut out the shape on the bag
It is actually very easy. Once I’d done the cutting I glued in a square of overhead transparency with glue stick to create the window. I also added the curled ribbon and starfish thank you tags to finish them off.
starfish labels
We’ve had a few requests for our starfish labels, so here is a template for you. We recommend printing on pink card for the best effect. You can use them for:
- goodie bag labels
- party favour labels
- invitation labels

thank you leaves
I used these leaves as thank you notes for my daughter’s ladybug birthday party. I tied them to spotted red and black helium balloons and attached plastic insects with tiny little pegs. I used them to decorate the room and then gave them to the kids as they left the party. It was simple and the kids loved the insects.

mickey mouse balloons
It is hard to go wrong with helium balloons - they always give a festive feel, and make a great take home gift for the partygoers. For the Mickey Mouse party, I chose red, black and yellow balloons in keeping with the colour theme. I used weighted balloons for table decorations, and also had some loose ones that floated under the ceiling. You can attach thank-you notes to the balloons in the form of a black mickey mouse head shape. Buy some black card, print our mickey mouse template and cut the desired size for your thank-you card. Trace the template onto black card, cut and use a silver pen to personalise thank you notes to your guests.

space balloons
These balloons will set the scene for your alien or outer space party, as well as being a great take home gift for the guests. We have chosen a black and lime green theme for this party.
Get some black and green helium balloons with matching strings and stick silver stickers on the black balloons. We’ve also attached thank-you notes to these balloons in the form of silver star cut-outs. Buy some silver card, cut into star shapes and personalise thank you notes to your guests.
You’ll also see the planets we’ve hung from the roof. These are simply foam balls that you can pick up in any craft store. We’ve roughly painted them green (again, to match the theme) and hung them from the ceiling.
A simple way of creating a magical space setting!
handmade rubber ducky invitation or thank-you card
These are sweet invitations for your Rubber Ducky Party, or use them to say thank-you to your guests for a quacking good time! Print our Handmade Rubber Ducky Invitation template directly onto yellow card, or print one, cut it out and trace the body and wing onto a large sheet of yellow card. Glue the wing onto the body, but don’t stick it all down - it is much better fun if it flaps! Cut the beak out of orange contact or paper, and stick onto the beak area. Add a googlie eye. Write the party details on the back (or print the details onto yellow paper and glue onto the back).
Some suggested wording: What a lucky ducky Charlize would be, if you would join her to celebrate her very first birthday! Please waddle on over for a Rubber Ducky party. Sunday August 19th 11:30 - 1:30. At the bathtub at 2 Splish Splash Street, Bubbletown. Give Mother Duck, Tammy, a “quack” on 8123 4567
