Create a royal ambience for your princess party by providing a royal throne!  Find a suitable chair and decorate with ribbon, a cushion, fabric, jewellery or pretend jewels - or cut a throne shape from some cardboard, decorate before attaching to the back of a chair.

You can use the throne during the party for:

• present opening.  Have the birthday child sit on the throne, with the other guests in a semi circle on the floor in front of the “throne”.  Each guest can take turns to present their gift to the birthday child, and the birthday child can use their best royal manners to thank the guest before opening the gift
• photo opportunities - encourage each child to sit on the throne so you can take a photo, or have guests take royal potraits of each other
• a coronation
• demonstrating princess etiquette, such as how to eat cake, how to sit like a princess, or how to smile like a princess
